Kibbutzim College & Residences in the Park, Tel Aviv
Designing landscape with public-private transitions
The core concept is to create an "urban stream", a wide pedestrian axis with a separated bicyle lane accompanied by changing vegetation and (temporary) activity areas. Wetlands in areas designated for the collection of runoff water will add to the urban green experience. A public square with an amphitheater is planned as an open-air classroom and meeting ground in front of the Kibbutzim College. Areas for sports activities are located in distance from the residential area.
The private open spaces are designed as an integral part to the adjacent public park. Fences between private and public are only planned where absolutely necessary, e.g. safety railings. Areas with public access will be characterized by narrow lanes and pocket parks. These "rooms in the landscape" will be isolated both visually and acoustically from their surroundings by means of green walls, ramps or water elements creating a quiet place for rest and relaxation.
The construction is estimated to start in 2016.
